beatnik filmstars - intensive care - intensity - intensifier (2k7)

a box of light entertainment
(discs 3-5)

i wish i could come across a physical copy of one of these...

andrew didn't make many and i was laid off right before it was available... it'd be nice to add to my collection...

most of the recordings from the first two discs i already have from early singles and eps on vinyl... but today i just finally finished off this middle top of the six disc set which makes me really want one now... this box is a treat for longtime beatnik fans since it has a lot of rarities, live stuff, alternate takes and demos...

i don't know if you've ever made a not so good recording at a live show and listened to it later and to an outsider they'd be like... "what's this crap"... but to you who was there it'd give you a whole different feeling... just because you knew what it was really like to be part of the experience... for me some of these recordings reminded me of so many good little shows from the past where you "just had to be there"... even though i've been nowhere near england, most of these recordings had the power to create a false nostalgia in my mind as if i could have been there... or maybe i was... or maybe i just need to get some sleep... damn, i've been up over... it'd be 36 at nine... is it really past three? oh well... anyways... but it's not a good start for a beginner... it'd be like someone giving you suitcase 3 as your first gbv album...

if you're a first timer and have a hunger for a lo-fi high here's a good start...
