if you're not into the projects that are going on over at 555 recordings of flagstaff, az... now is an excellent time to check them out... they just recently added some more excellent 7" eps to their catalog... a lot of the older ones are sold out now but there are still plenty and they have a get any five 7" eps for 15 dollars special... which is well worth it and some of the best little eps i've added to my collection in a long time - i have all the ones they have for sale and a lot more and i'd add them to the file pile but i think i'm gonna pass on the vinyl rips and leave it up to a few streamers of some of the songs i found... maybe i'll upload if they all sell out but they're not expensive and a lot of hand assembling and screening love went into them (some even glow in the dark - the coolest is the glowing cat on the kristen mess ep) so no file pile files... so buy some and show yr support - they make really great lps and eps and are worth double of every penny spent or more... to me - they're priceless gems - you can have the diamonds, i just want the beautifully hand-packaged vinyl collection.

bye bye slsk...

i've said bye bye to the leechers at slsk who don't share anything good in return most of the time anyways or chat back when i send'em file pile links... grab and run and no thanks... bunch of suckers killing my speeds... but, if you're on dial-up and want something because your speeds are too slow to handle a .rar download from the file pile... let me know what you want and i'll flick it on for you to get something... sorry to those that come here due to when i used to leave it on 24 hours a day but almost everything is in the file pile here too... plus i'm doing a cleaning of the hard drive tomorrow to make room for the new releases and promo stuff for the record company so everything'll be pretty vacant in my music collection and convert files folder anyways... but if you are on dial-up i'll set up a folder for you and throw whatever you want to borrow in it and turn on slsk if you ask me to because i know what it's like to be stuck in the slow slow lane and be a music addict at the same time... just e-mail me or message me on myspace and let me know and i'll pull it from my massively overwhelming pile of cdrs and dvdrs filled with music.

the title to this amazing ep is kind of creepy now that mark has passed on his own terms... hearing him sing out, "all i wanted was to be a happy man" holds a lot more meaning when you're gone... but now it's too late to help and there's nothing anyone can do about it but enjoy all the legacy of great compositions left behind... and be assholes and up the price of an ep to 20 bucks or so minimum on amazon when they used to sell for around seven before he killed himself... the music is priceless... that's why it's...        (in the file pile)

extraordinary measures (2010)

imdb / moviesite / buy / torrentz

you ever get it when you can't remember the names of an actor or an actress?

situation: loud guy from the other side of the breakroom is having a conversation with an older lady who pretends she's interested in what he's saying... but you can tell she really doesn't care.

"so encino man's grown up and something fucked up in his prehistoric d.n.a. causes his kids to have a degenerative muscle disease when he mates with felicity (that girl from eight days a week with the nipples) so he goes in the future to find han solo who's now this mad cap doctor with some mad theories who can't keep his inner indiana jones under control and almost screws everything up... but they work together to get get a bunch of business yuppies and scientist dudes to pay for their secret lab to make special medicine but they're gonna get shut down so then they go to the other drug dealers enterprise and then they get that guy that trained the pretender, you know, who you always hear saying, "jared", in his weird accent that was that blind guy in the carnivale show with that backwards dancing midget-dwarf dude from twin peaks with the funky jazz music... you know who i'm talkin'bout? but anyways, then that mummy guy thinks it's a good idea to steal the drugs after they're only giving it to babies and not the big kids and then well... it was really sad and happy and if i tell you anymore i'll probably spoil the ending... better go my break's over..."

loud guy leaves the break room and goes back to work. older lady rubs her temples like she was just fed a migraine through her ears and thinks about how she should move all the extra chairs away from her before she sits down for her break. the two straight guys on the opposite side of the room that everyone in the factory thinks are homosexuals because they spend all their free time together stop sipping their coffee mugs and strike up a conversation.

"did he just say there's a new indiana jones flick with a midget sidekick?"

"all i heard is keri russel's nipples and brendan fraser's making acid with harrison ford and selling it to kids."

"sounds good... wanna go see it before we hit the bar after we get paid friday?"

"sure. why not."

i always love getting packages from 555 recordings of flagataff, az... you can feel the love and heart that goes into the product and even the packing, which is one of my biggest influences when it comes to my beliefs in the d.i.y. system and the way i care for things when sending them out.

you should've seen the shit eating grin on my face while i examined the d.i.y. assembly, stamping and screening of the albums while getting ready to slap them on the turntable... the extra 1/2 inch or so of blank smooth leader at the beginning instead of the end was great too on the tricia yates record so i could adjust the skating on my table, which was way off, so my grin spread even further than i thought possible... then the treble kicked along with the bass only the way that vinyl and analog can do... and the grin on my face almost split my head in half... if it happens next time and my face cracks open from over joy or my head explodes, as long as they pay me back with the promise of more amazing records in the future to come, i'll gladly pay for the hospital bill and the cleanup crew from the mess my head made... this album is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo good. you should get one while you can... only 100 press.

trimming off the lean meat...

i realized when i went to go make a list of all the things i listened to and watched to post up as an "as is" upload to catch up with the way i post things usually i realized that most of it wasn't that special and just background music in the elevator of my mind... maybe i whistled along while waiting for my floor, but i didn't sing along and feel like moving to the music... if my body moves to the groove or i start singing along involuntarily i know it's having a big effect on me as a person... so from now on i'm trimming off the lean meat and the veggies and only posting up the fat that sticks with me and has that staying power that gives me something to burn my creativity and motivation for promoting music off of. every once in a while i may post a cup of coffee or two or a quick smoke but those'll be just a little energy boost that aren't that good for me.

i have the player at the top of the page i may throw a song in or two for things i don't post if there's something i really liked on one of the albums i listened to and didn't post... but that's about it... i started this and the old blog as a diary to be able to make time relevant to me... most of my memories of days have music tied to them and when i hear something that triggers a day's memories i can go back and see when that actually was if i want since i really hold no concept of time in my reality... most times i don't even know what day of the week it is or if it's day or night when i wake up if it's light out or dark... i know the difference between sunrise and sunset but my alarm clock always flashes the time in relation to when the power last went out... it's only right if the power comes back on at 12.

so from now on only the good sticky stuff and a few quickies.

my best memories from yesterday were:

chris stamey experience (with yo la tengo) - a question of temperature (2k5)
which i'm listening to again right now... and is uploading to the file pile.

twin sister - color your life (2010)
already posted before... ordering a few vinyls for the local shops which has an extra track on it so it's actually a full album and not a mini and well worth the 12 dollars (order it from them and the actual record company direct since they don't get paid more than pocket change from the distro company).

low - secret name (1999)
such slowly powerful stuff... i don't know how they do it... also uploading.

east river pipe - helmet on (1993) 7" ep
i always love me a little sewage water dumping in the east river... uploading.

there's one more that was a creative commons release i forget the name of but it'll get a proper post... there are seven or ten others but they were just elevator music and without looking in my music collection or my mp3 player... i really have no clue what they were so they must've not been that important.

i watched part of avatar again while eating dinner but my laptop over heated from running an outline to the tv, doing uploads, and spinning a dvd at the same time for over two hours so when my computer crashed i just quit the movie... i also watched nurse jackie, which is a good little dramedy and after chris stamey's done again i'll watch united states of tara.

ok. that's all.

listen with an open mind.
enjoy.

vel.

vel's new song is hilarious, i wish i had the connections to get all of his songs made into videos with the storylines and the real people as the actors like little short films... i love imagining the scenarios in my mind and those are what i love about his music the most... some yuppie can go on about the imagery some music makes him feel and tell you of the beautiful picture it's painting for him but in my opinion vel's a multi-talented solo artist who not only plays catchy little riffs and flowing bass lines but he's drawing animated films, putting out comic strips, directing romantic comedies, and piloting off-the-wall dark comedy series for hbo and showtime with his music and their little short story situations. some may find his music corny, but i think it's pure genius... give him a listen on the player below or give that cat a meow over on myspace.

on vacation.

i'm on a vacation from my vacation for the next few days... there may be one big "as is" post to catch up the three days and three times i cleared out all the albums on my mp3 player but a lot of the things i'm not going to leak here for personal reasons since i'm trying to bring them to a vinyl pressing pre-order first... so i'll be gone from here for a few. if you want to see what's new visit magiska.tk or bolachas.org they usually compile the best of the leaks and the best of the creative commons.

zach galifianakis: live at the purple onion (2k6)

imdb / buy / myspace / website / torrentz

i don't don't care what anyone thinks... zach is a comedic genius... plays with anxiety like it's an instrument and he's making the best experimental album that's like nothing else you've ever experienced... he's so fucking funny.

chloe (2k9)

imdb / moviesite / buy / torrentz

when they started putting amanda seyfried in the articles and pictures of who they guessed would be the next "it girls" i thought it was silly and thought her career wouldn't go much further than her character on big love, but after watching dear john and her seductively crooked yet in a way sweet and caring portrayal of a hooker in chloe, i'm actually looking forward to seeing letters to juliet and have to admit she's become one hell of an actress and it looks like she'll have a promising future in many roles for the rest of her life.

breaking bad - s03e06 (2010)

sunset: imdb / showsite / buy / torrentz

this is such a good show.

additions to the "as is" pile...

the list of things i've been listening to today is getting too long to convert and re-tag and make sure all's dandy, so again i'm going to throw some things in the "as is" pile and they'll get there when they get there... if you don't like the tags... fix 'em with music brainz or do them individually because i'm beat and need to get my breaking bad on.

       (in the file pile)

here's the list for new things slowly uploading to the "as is" folder... they usually go in alphabetically and they'll get there when they get there.

album leaf - there is a wind (2010) 12" ep
thermals / cribs - separate / so hot now (2010) split 7"
tall dwarfs - hello cruel world (1988)
low - the curtain hits the cast (1996)
mount eerie - daytrotter session 02.15.10
scott matthew - there is an ocean that divides (2k9)
tobacco - maniac meat (2010)
white stripes - under great white northern lights (2010) cd

ok. they'll be up when they're up.

thanks for buying my new and used records on discogs.

if anyone's been going to discogs and buying my stuff that stops here... thanks.

if you didn't know... i'm trying to sell off some things to raise some extra funds towards some vinyl pressings in a few months... here's a link to the stuff i have left if you're interested.

http://www.discogs.com/sell/list?seller=stumpdrk

if you'd be interested in donating towards some pressings and getting releases at cost let me know too... you can see what i'm into here and if you want to know more just ask.

p.s. i may be busy the rest of the day/night and just do an "as is" post later while i'm watching breaking bad... have a good sunday eve.

requests...

whoever it was who e-mailed me and asked me if i had maniac meat yet...
the answer is yes... but i don't upload leaks until i listen to them and see if i like them and all is kosher with the files... any other already released albums i'll send links out to if i know where they are and i'll upload it if i personally own it and you want to borrow something... but my new policy for leaks is that i'll put them up when i do or you can check my convert folder on slsk if you're one of the leechers on there to see if i have something yet... requests are mainly for stuff that's been out already.

ok... i just needed to vent that since it was the third request for something that isn't even out yet this week.

sweet apple - love & desperation (2010)

what happens when you take a guy from cobra verde, a different guy from witch, some other guy i don't know and throw them in a room with j.mascis? i don't know and that's up to them, but there is this sweet apple record with a roxy music lookin' cover. i'd try to describe all the things that the music reminds me of but it keeps changing every song and i'm having a hard time focusing because my mind and eyes keep drifting to the beautiful dark haired girl on the right side of the cover... it may be a good marketing strategy and make the music better because it keeps me from focusing on the songs too much so i won't notice the things i may actually dislike about it...

buried the image and pulled it from the song tags so it's not on my player for a second go and this album's pretty good... a couple things made me think of foos fighting, trees screaming, whites striping and blues grooving... you can tell j's in the house as always. not my favorite but a really good rock album if that's what they're still called. ok... i guess the genre's post-90s pre-grunge yet recorded later than that reunion rock record from a band that didn't exist before but should've... there's been a lot of bands in that genre lately... i just call it old guys getting together and rockin' out... i hope those aren't their daughters on the cover.

i'm really liking this ep after the first track... i wasn't in the mood for the first song (it's still good though - sounds like the '80s) but after "hand" came on i couldn't stop listening or keep from moving to the following groove... the rest is mostly simple basic and lo-fi tunes with some beat and tape-play but those are the music stylings that i love the most from people... check it out... his new project (the myspace link) is robo distaste which sounds promising and a positive improvement and addition to these earlier recordings... can't wait to hear their finished results.

ever since the first day i met this guy in kent i've been really into his music... everyone should give the player below a little listen and give him a visit on the ol' myspace... don't have his new album quietly yet but all sounds amazing from the player... hopefully i'll get one real soon.
