cd+dvd+scrapbook: buy
reg. cd: buy / myspace / bandsite

       (in the file pile)

everyones been sucking this off my computer like crazy through slsk for the last week... i don't know if it's because i'm really tired and relaxed, but this album is really annoying the shit out of me... there are some good points to it but as a whole... it's really fucking annoying... "and i need to get away"... sing it sister... no! the annoyance is back... just when i start liking it... i get attacked... soft and sweet... then she attacks me... i wish she'd make up her mind.

she's scaring the shit out of me but i can't stop listening... i'm afraid i may actually like this... this music sounds like the crazy bitches i tend to fall for put to music during the worst of fights and the best of hard core pound fucking.

i just really need a cuddle though...

now that it's nearing the end she's calmed down, still potty mouthed but soothing... i think i just might like it... yeah, i do. damn... she's gonna break my heart.

black keys - tighten up / howlin' for you (2010)

12" 45: myspace / bandsite

       (in the file pile)

the songs are great but i'm trying to understand why they wasted the extra five inches of vinyl?... these'll also be on the new album brothers in a month... record store day or not it's still a big waste of space... i wish they would've flopped four tracks on it that weren't going to be released in a month... that would've been a treat instead of what i find to be a ridiculous waste of good vinyl... why this? why 5000 copies? i just don't get it.

i plan on re-releasing this ep within the next year as part of a 12" double ep... i just don't know who'll be on the other side yet... if you'd like to make a donation towards getting a copy when it's pressed... suggested donation is $5 for minimum of 1 copy... if you're an artist interested on being on the other side and want to raise half the costs... let me know.

the white stripes: under great white northern lights (2010)

imdb / moviesite / buy / torrentz

at first sight, the white stripes may appear as just another gimmick and media painted to stardom pair of trained to please talent... if you take the time to look past the image of the photograph and the polished sound you'll see the raw genius and talent and an almost identical twin like connection between this brother and sister team... at times their closeness may look a little creepy and a little more than sibling love but it's a magnetism between two opposite poles of the same blood that deep inside we all wish we could have... this unspoken communication where someone really understands... this is well displayed in this new documentary that explores the energy, effort, and hard-working creative force that drives this duo who can prove time and time again they are completely unique.

french quarter - overpassing (2k6)

ep: buy / myspace / bandsite

       (in the file pile)

even though it's close to being an album... it's not quite... which may be a good thing for the eps and mini-albums of the world... sometimes you may get an ep that's just what the band felt was a hit single backed up by unwanted leftover filler or some garbage you've already heard from the album that was played poorly live or a previously released tune sneakily renamed so you wouldn't know it was just cheesily remixed into a bad dance tune. stephen steinbrink is a really good song writer and since this overpassing is an excellent display of his talent that's just a little short of what i needed yet also just what i needed... this is a good thing for him because of course i'll just have to play it again.

a little more convenient.

i still won't be posting direct links to files and copyrighted images since they easily get the web sheriffs on your case and are the main reasons for the removal of files, blog posts, and whole blogs that have direct links and use images without permission (the images on lala and myspace players are supplied by the artist to them for embedding so those are ok)... please use the "try" links if available for artist supplied free downloads.

i'll try to make getting to the file pile easier by putting this link on posts from now on which you can just click when you want to borrow something...

       (in the file pile)

you will need to click the show descriptions button in the left sidebar if it is not already turned on from the last time you visited when you get to the mediafire page to be able to see the post titles, then just type the first few letters of the blog post's title (or any word in it if the first three or four letters are common) in the search box on the left to get the file you want to easily sort out the file pile.

i will also start putting a torrentz.com link that'll go to a search result for films and television shows i'm viewing... you can then choose your own torrent provider and rip type of preference... if you like direct downloads you can sort through the bad links and garbage at files tube or release log on your own.

if you get a bad file from me that has a bad track or something missing or damaged when extracting... please let me know so i can fix it as soon as possible by leaving a short comment on the post so it'll be fixed for the next person... if it's one track missing or damaged i'll also upload it individually so you don't have to wait for me to up a whole'nother (.rar) file and you can just download the small file faster... plus it'll be there for others that may've gotten the bad one.

thanks for visiting.
feel free to comment on any post by clicking where it says comments at the bottom of each post... or by clicking on the post title so it goes to it's own page with a comment box. let me know what you like and dislike and would like to see more of or if there is anything you're desperately looking for... because if it fits my tastes i may have it or be easily able to find it.

hope you still enjoy the blog since i've started opening my trap... i'm working on a lot of personal stuff so posting will be slow for a while... but it'll be posted up when it's done.

listen with an open mind.
enjoy.

later.

dump - a grown-ass man (2k3)

buy / myspace

i really wish i could've found a streamer to post for all to listen to... if you never had a chance to listen to james mcknew's (yo la tengo) solo mostly lo-fi stuff he's been putting out since like '92 or so... here's a good place to start... it's probably my favorite of his so far... we'll see when the new guy heartbeeps comes to completion and after i finally get around to what i think is the first full length one from 1993, superpowerless. you'll hear a lot of things that'll get you thinking, haven't i heard this yo la tengo melody before... maybe... but this is usually where it was born.

tall dwarfs - weeville (1990)

+ 2 bonus tracks: buy / myspace / bandsite

alec bathgate and chris knox made a great songwriting duo... they make the folk implosion look like amateurs (early stuff, not dare to be surprised) and turn simon and garfunkel into the biggest pussies ever (were already high on puss-o-meter)... sucks that knox had a stroke... probably never hear anything as great as the tall dwarfs again... if you haven't heard the stroke: songs for chris knox album you should definitely get one... a lot good artists payed tribute to one of their biggest influences to help him in this unforeseeable outcome of tragedy.

breaking bad - s03e04 (2010)

guided by voices - fast japanese spin cycle (1994)

7" ep: buy (cd/7") / myspace / bandsite

talked about this gem earlier on the merrye syndrome post... i know i'll give it a double run through like always so i just flopped it in the playlist twice... good luck finding a 7" of this for under 30... still only 5 for the cd in pollard's store... been a favorite ever since the day i got it back in i think late '94... one day i listened to it for a pick-up four hour shift delivering pizzas when it was the only cd i had in the car just trying to get my check when someone called off... never got tired of it... eight songs in eleven minutes... all lo-fi-high classics.

i agree with the title.

ep: try / listen

this may be my favorite ep of all time... it's standing in the ring all beaten up and worn out with one arm raised high holding the hand of fast japanese spin cycle after the judges declared the fight was over. the ref is knocked out and they've called a truce... they both win in the neverending battle for the belt.

twin sister - color your life (2010)

12" ep: buy / try / listen / myspace / bandsite

if you haven't heard the first ep you should maybe listen to that one first (click the tags below)... i like that one the best but maybe it's just because it was the first thing i listened to by them, which is usually how it goes when i really like a band and their music... free download is still up from their site, i do recommend this guy on vinyl even though it is a little pricy for an ep.

susurrus station - add a day going west (2k9)

<a href="http://susurrusstation.bandcamp.com/album/add-a-day-going-west">Driven by Susurrus Station</a>
buy / try / listen / myspace / bandsite

i'm surprised this is my first repost on this blog... actually it should be my second because i just listened to the new twin sister again, i just accidentally started this guy instead... this time around i started on track four where a female vocalist pops into the album and i think i've gotten into the album more this time around by starting there... the male vocalist kind of threw me off the first time around and i almost stopped on the third track but i'm really glad i didn't because this actually a really good album... i just would of personally re-ordered the track listing unless you're really into things like arab strap thrown into a blender with nick drake, silver mt. zion, liars, mother tongue, and the cult... you're gonna love it the way it is... just for some reason i seem to like the beginning at the end more this time around... the first track really does bust in the door and kick some serious ass at the end... i just feel it may cause listeners to skip it before the end when it's the starter... and it is really a good number that deserves listening to.

i think track eight may be my favorite... makes me think a lot of tom waits and "filipino box spring hog"... if you threw waits on the vocals you wouldn't be able to tell he didn't record it... i know what i'll be listening to later.

mfrench - digital tapehiss ep volume 1 (2k7)

try / listen / myspace

i'll be back to posting soon.

i'm not really listening to anything in particular today for a while and i fell asleep five or ten minutes into crazy on the outside this morning (not because it was terrible but because i was up for twenty-four hours)... so after i do a little band scouting for something new to get into, i'm gonna watch that film (which sadly, i think i might actually like) and then do a little song polishing, writing, and maybe even painting... so don't bother checking back until the morning because there probably won't be anymore posts today 'til maybe after sunrise... then i'll flop up all i got into tonight before i go to bed for my afternoon sleep... i'm a night owl... or moon man... or lunie, or third-shifter, or whatever you wanna call it.

right now i'm listening to myself again while typing this before i start web surfing again.

<a href="http://stump.bandcamp.com/album/melody-a-day-vol-5">04.03.10 by stump</a>

i've noticed that i'm pretty much my only fan and that's ok with me since i really only make art and music for a type of art therapy i force on myself to keep out of depression... it would make me feel a lot better if someone would actually download something since it's all free... even if they never took the time to listen to it, at least they took the time to press download and look at the page before throwing it in the recycle bin... ten second plays and skips with no downloads makes you feel bad about making music.

the ex tried to tell me that people care about my art and music and argued with me over the fact that i said nobody cares, and she tried to say i had no way to prove that nobody cares... but i'm the one who sees the stats... and trust me, as of today and the last three years before - nobody cares but me... and further proof was that she hasn't even visited my sites to see what i've done and she probably still hasn't even looked at my pages even though she made a big deal to argue over it... even though she says she cares for me and says it's important what i do for others... there is no real proof.

if anyone does care, please tell me. if they don't, go ahead and tell me too... i need criticism... just remember most things are recorded with no planning, re-takes, or intensive writing sessions... doodle it or program it, record it, improv over it, a little touch up effects and re-mixing... done... and i usually don't go back to it.

i wrote this song yesterday that's bothering me because all i hear is bill callahan singing it in my mind both times when i played it and tried to sing it... so i'll probably record that to get it over with... i hate it when i write something that reminds me too much of something else... bill callahan does a fine job of writing his own songs and doesn't need my unintentional mockery.

enough about my bill-bull.

go make some art and music today and come back tomorrow, i'd actually like to see what people do with their free time... always feel free to share anything you've done... i'm always up to listen.

listen with an open mind.
enjoy.

later.
