a little cash for the online junkies.

if the internet was a drug, i'd have to say i'm an addict. if not having a job is a problem for you the way it is for me, there a few ways if you're careful that can earn you a little cash that you can do real quick if you're smart about it. one of them is inbox dollars.

yeah, i do get a kickback for referring people that click that banner, which i seriously doubt will hardly be anything... you can go the simple route and take lousy surveys which usually only pay 50 cents as often as you like plus they send you emails which they pay you 2 cents a piece to look at. there's also a way to make more money but you'll need something simple like a prepaid visa card... i don't suggest ever using a real one attached to your name or one that has too much money on it because it could be a trick-you offer... you can do things like getting paid to try a blockbuster trial (free rentals + some cash), try out gevalia (free coffee + some cash), get a free credit check done (call and cancel asap after doing - usually says will charge in four days or so if trial not canceled in the fine print), or doing other things like trying book of the month club (send the book back and cancel membership)... there are other simple things you can do like inquiring about colleges and doing offer surveys (just say no you're not interested to everything). i didn't want to post about it until i actually got a check and it cleared, but it did... sure i only cleared about 50 bucks in three months but it was really for doing nothing and i got some free coffee, movies, and other junk along the way.

so if you have a little time, it's pretty much some free extra cash.

another one, which i completely recommend, is a survey company... valued opinions (valuedopinions.com)... which pay you usually around 2 or 3 dollars for doing fifteen to twenty minute product surveys... this works real well. i usually get a 20 dollar visa gift card (or there's a lot of other options like amazon vouchers, etc.) every month or two which is great for buying records online... when you get survey emails from them, the best thing to do is take it right away because if they meet their quota for people like you, you won't qualify after a few simple entry questions. it's best to always be honest unless it's something obvious, like today the preliminary questions started asking me how often i shave... so i lied and said twice a week, which hasn't been true for two years.

there is also vindale research.

be very careful with this one because most of the so called paid to try products are products that are entrapment deals where the small print says they will charge you if you don't return the sample product unused within a certain time and notify them about canceling the trial offer... as said before, use prepaid cards in case you mess up and do something like open a trial energy snack bar like i did, and then realize it says something ridiculous like, "send the trail samples back unopened if you don't like our product and we'll refund your money and cancel future $50 shipments for your daily supply of this over-priced crap every month"... how can you try a product and decide whether you want it on not without opening it? so it's a cleverly disguised scam, so scam them back if you mess up and use the little bit of cash left on a prepaid card at wal-mart, online, or at the grocery store towards something, just to make sure they don't try to charge you, and get a new prepaid if you need one... don't just ignore them though if you read the fine print too late, throw your half eaten candy bar in a ziplock and put it back in the package, write "refuse: return to sender" on the package and send it back and cancel just like you're supposed to... vindale also has paid surveys but they are rare to come buy... i cleared about fifty dollars in a few months which they'll paypal or send a check to you for... but after that i've been stuck around thirty dollars for a while without any offers to take advantage of where i won't lose money (they only pay every fifty - the others are i think 20)... maybe i'll try netflix trial (which i'll only lose a dollar or so) and order some self help book (which breaks even after payment) just to get my next fifty so i can put in another discogs order for some rare vinyl i've been aching for.

so if you're interested (i'm being honest and not trying to get you ripped off) be smart and safe when doing these, and after you get the hang of how the surveys are usually done, they go by real quick. do me a favor if you can and click the little ads so i get a tiny referral bonus too... i'm sure you'd do the same if you told someone else who was an online junkie and music geek like me who needed a little extra cash to fill up his needle and arm with his favorite drug (it's a bad joke if you didn't get it - i'm talking about my record player arm and needle).

i wouldn't post this if it hadn't worked out worthwhile for me... so be careful and enjoy the incentives... oh, i almost forgot... if you do fill out college inquiry surveys or things like that... never give your home phone number, but if you accidentally do and they call, don't just hang up on them or politely tell them to fuck off, make sure you tell them to put you on their do-not-call list. it's the law that they can never call back again unless you ask them to and if they do you can actually sue them for harassment. you can also do this with any telemarketer and most of the time removal from one call list may delete you from a lot of others since telemarketing companies pay for call lists which are shared throughout other companies... i don't know how to stop junk mail though, which should also be deemed illegal as a waste of the earth's limited resources... for junk e-mail just unsubscribe or use a different e-mail account from your personal one for doing surveys because you will get some... if your not interested in an inquiry like a college offer and you have to chose between send info by e-mail or postal service... do the trees and the world a favor and chose e-mail and just hit unsubscribe or no further e-mails option when you receive one.

that's about all i can think of to warn you about so you profit instead of perish from stupid mistakes.... if i do make another stupid mistake i'll be sure to tell you... always read the fine print and follow instructions, just don't click ok thinking things are really free.

p.s. if anyone else knows of any other good online paid for opinions and such sites... send me a referral link in the comments, and if it's actually a good service to use (don't send me links to the stupid ones that give you points for doing surveys which end up being like five or ten cents a survey), i'll post it up on this post after i try it and know it's good with your referral link.

crazy on the outside (2010)

imdb / moviesite / buy

i can't believe i'm actually going to watch this... and by choice too.
a tim allen film starring tim allen... i'm scared... written by...
oh... not tim allen.... maybe it won't be too bad. i'm so curious to see if he can actually act... i already can tell frasier is playing the part of frasier as he always does... and ray liota will play ray liota, but if i hear one neanderthalish ungh or a grunt... it's going off.

the trap.

when i first started posting everything that i was listening to or watching during the day, i told myself that i was going to try and keep my trap shut... i'll let the music speak for itself through the players and streams since that's how i usually get myself a quick sample before wanting to hear the whole thing... i think i fucked that up.

it was easy when i started because i was in a state where if i tried to talk... words wouldn't come out... for people that say they wish they couldn't speak sometimes... yeah, it's one of my wishes that like to come true for me... i'm ranked up there in the world of delusionals and dreamers... trust me, you wouldn't like being a mute.

anyways, if you disagree with any of my opinions feel free to talk shit back... as long as it's somewhat intelligent and creative and has an honest opinion... i like sarcasm and way off the subject comparisons the best. be creative... it's good for the soul.

brendan perry - ark (2010)

guess you can only buy this for now at his tour stops:
myspace / bandsite

our ol' boy brendan perry still proves that he can make the dead get up and dance... i do miss me some lisa gerrard incomprehensible wailing though... wish they'd do their thing together again so i can experience it live... might have to dig up some old dead can vinyls this week... and watch toward the within again.

howling hex - rogue moon (2k9)

lp: buy / bandsite

i've been looking for a copy of this since january so i could hear it before i ordered one and came across a rip on the blamers bandblog... i'm not sure if the vinyl is of low quality or just the rip... the tidbit in the video ad above sounds better than the whole rip but it's still and interesting listen... if anyone has a better rip let me know... i may still order one though... we'll see... the album's kind of out there, and not the way that i like out there... it's like a couple handfulls of table scraps thrown on the floor for the dogs, but someone took the time to arrange them first in a way so that the leftovers would appear artistically creative before they let the mutts in to scarf them down... maybe if i heard a better copy though i'd have a better opinion... if it is a leftover or improv album, it's good for what it is.

stump - untitled ep#2 (2k9)

<a href="http://stump.bandcamp.com/album/untitled-ep-2">forgiveness by stump</a>
ep: buy / try / listen / myspace / bandsite

another unclassifiable piece from my personal art therapy collection of untitled collections with untitled for the title... i'm not sure if anyone should ever listen to the music i make... i'm usually pretty depressed when i create most things... it does lift me up though and keep me down at the same time... never fitting in... not even with itself... but that's the way i like things to be... i'm think i'm kind of proud in a way of my stubbornness towards staying unstable... i don't think i'll ever change... i think being "normal" would probably kill me... people should just accept others who are different from the norm for the way they are and the world would be a much better place for them and the concerned.

th' faith healers - peel sessions (2k5)

avi buffalo - avi buffalo (2010)

buy / myspace / bandsite

usually i try to avoid hype about upcoming albums and new bands before i get to hear their album... i also try to avoid looking at song titles too much too... ok. so i saw all the hype and couldn't avoid running into it here and there and i saw the song titles... summer cum? five dirty sluts? where is your dirty mind?... ok, so now i've got the pre-set opinion that this is a juvenile piece of over-hyped crap... i was ready to have one those experiences like i did with pearl jam's backspacer where i went through the whole album in five minutes just trying to find something in it that i could like and disappointingly just have to throw it straight in the garbage without a second thought... so without a care of what anyone else thinks, i've gotta say my opinion of this avi buffalo thing straight out... beginning to end, this is a good album.

since this is for a good cause, you won't be finding this one in the file pile... also, please support jen and stewart by buying up their pretty vinyl and other projects over at 555 recordings and boyracer... everything they do is amazing and it's hard to keep little labels alive these days... and i'm very proud of all they've accomplished over the years.

i tortured myself through recording the mr. bungle side and i would not recommend it unless you're into music that makes you feel like you're really angry for no good reason and just got done vomiting violently for an hour or two... the t-rex cover by the flaming lips is real nice treat though.

if anyone really wants this 7" for their collection make me an offer.

happy chocolate egg laying rabbit day.

...after telling little two 'n' a half-year old johnny that the easter bunny brought him the chocolate he enjoyed from his basket on easter morning, his parents couldn't understand how poor little johnny got the idea that it was a good thing to eat the droppings from the rabbit cage at the pet store when they visited a month later.

"must only taste good when jesus becomes a ham-eating zombie," thought johnny as he began his first steps into his long journey through the world of confusion...
